60年代黑人音樂的勢力以「摩城唱片」（MOTOWN）獨大（歌手陣容包括Marvin Gaye,Supremes,Jackson 5,Smokey Robinson,Diana Ross,Stevie Wonder 以及 Lionel Richie 等黑人巨星），為了要改變這種寡頭的音樂型態，在70年代出現了一家以費城為基地的「費城唱片公司」（Philadelphia），他們以不同於Motown的音樂風格，開創了「費城之聲」（ The Sound of Philadelphia ），同名副品牌「TSOP」捧出三度女子合唱團。
Three Degrees組成於1963年﹐多年來成員不斷加入或退出﹐但是仍是三人組合。

1988年香港歌手陳慧嫻樂壇首度引退﹐便曾改編此曲作告別作。
